Memorial weekend fun

We woke up Saturday morning and decided to head to the beach for the day (one of the advantages of living 20 miles away!!) Luckily, it was overcast that day, since the temperatures were in the 90's with a heat index of 100-105 (and it is only May....we usually don't see that until July!) The clouds allowed us to stay at the beach for 3-4 hours and enjoy it. Brinley loved being at the beach. She was running in and out of the water and squealing with delight the entire time. She even loved it when her daddy took her deep in the ocean and let the waves crash against them. It took her a while to get use to the sand in between her toes (she kept asking me to clean them off), but eventually she was shoveling and digging in the wet sand like it never bothered her.

After we left the beach, we ate lunch at my favorite Mexican food restaurant, Salsas, for lunch. We used to have one in League City that we ate at every week, but then they closed it down towards the end of my pregnancy...shame on them! So now we have to drive to Galveston to eat it.

We got home that afternoon and Brinley took a 3 1/2 hour nap, guess she was worn out! Jason and I also enjoyed a nap on the couch while watching Indiana Jones...he bought the entire DVD set so he could ready to see the new movie!

It was a great way to spend the memorial weekend and I think the beach will become a very frequent outing this summer for us.

Cooped up in the house way too long!

Brinley has been sick the past 2 weeks! I knew I jinxed myself a few weeks ago when I said she hadn't been sick since late November!!! Last week, she had a upper respiratory infection. While she is still coughing a little congested from that, she was acting back to normal. Monday she came down with a stomach bug and has had diarrhea all week (with a little vomiting yesterday). She has missed 2 weeks of MDO and I am about to go stir crazy of being locked in this house! Hopefully, she will be better by next week so she can at least go to her last week of MDO and I can get some things done!!!

A visit from Wyatt

For the past three weeks, my sister in law and nephew, Wyatt, have been visiting from Switzerland. It is always great to see them and let the cousins interact with each other since they are only 2 days apart in age! This trip was more exciting since they can actually play together now (back in January they played separately the majority of the time) I wish they lived here all the time! It is so interesting to see how differently boys and girls develop! Although, we both realized they inherited the Smith family genes of not talking much (Wyatt is a grunter, while Brinley likes to point!!) Here are some pictures of the many things we did over the past three weeks! We had so much fun and look forward to you next visit after christmas.....or hopefully sooner!

sick little girl and traveling daddy

Not much has been going on at our house lately. Brinley has been sick with a upper respiratory infection and running 102-103 fever for the past 3 days. So she and I have been cooped up in the house trying to get her well.

Jason, my dad and brother took their annual man trip this past weekend to Canton, Ohio to visit the Football hall of fame, rock n roll hall of fame and they caught a few Indians baseball games. They had a great time (despite the cold and rainy weather). This is a tradition they started last year with a trip to New York to see the sights, baseball hall of fame, etc. Here are some pictures of his Ohio trip

Dad, Jason and Blake at Cleveland baseball game

The highlight of his trip...eating White Castle (not sure if it was beause the Harold and Kumar movie or from visiting his grandparents up North when he was little.... )
