scaredy cat...I mean dog!

Last night we had a bad rainstorm with lots of thunder and lightening that lasted for about 2 hours. As I was going to bed, I was looking for Rylee (who usually hides in her kennel during rainstorms), but this is where I finally found her! Jason says she heard me talking during last weekend's storm about hiding in the bathtub if a tornado hits and decided to get a head start! Animals are so funny!

just a little rain

Over the past two days we have gotten 9.5 inches of rain! Our poor dry land was not ready to handle that much, so all of Houston is pretty much flooding. The water came up to our sidewalk but luckily receded quickly once it finally stopped raining!

We drove by the park by our house, which is beside Clear Creek, to see it very flooded.

Easter.....a little late

I have finally gotten around to uploading our Easter pictures on this very rainy, lazy Saturday! It has been a rough week on us. It started with Clayton getting bronchitis and ear infection the Thursday before Easter. We had to start him on breathing treatments because it went right to his chest. So after a few nights of not sleeping and taking care of a sick fussy baby, guess who woke up Saturday sick.....that is right, me!!! It definitely took me down and made it very hard to enjoy the Easter festivities, but I did it with my Kleenex box in hand!

Saturday night, Brinley dyed her eggs to leave for "hop hop"

Sunday morning, she quickly hunted her eggs in between rain storms and looked through all the goodies the Easter bunny brought her.

Clayton holding onto his basket and wouldn't let it go!

We headed over to my brother's house for Easter lunch, which I could not taste at all! Brinley and Reese had another egg hunt and played upstairs the entire time we were there.

We then headed over to Jason's parents house for dinner. After another meal I couldn't taste and another egg hunt, we headed home.
Clayton and his grandpa

So it took me all week to recover from this cold! Clayton is doing better and sleeping well once again. Today he is 4 months old! He is rolling over and today he discovered he can roll onto his side, which he loves, and fell asleep in the middle of the floor this morning! He is also starting to grab everything and put it in his mouth. Clayton is such a happy baby and will smile or laugh at anyone who will talk to him or even look at him! Last week at the doctor he weighed 12 1/2 pounds but we don't go for his 4 month check up until next week!

a moment of relaxation

Yesterday at 5:30, I got a craving for one of my favorite Mexican food restaurants. The problem? It is in Galveston! I guess the good thing is that we are only a 20 minute drive to the beach...totally attainable! So we packed up and headed down for some yummy Mexican food. From the moment we turned on the seawall, Brinley was screaming "BEACH!!". So with the bribe of her finishing her dinner quickly, we could go there afterwards. It amazes me that only 30 minutes of walking on the beach could make me so relaxed! Give me the sound of the waves, feel of the soft sand between my toes (thanks to new sand brought in after Hurricane Ike) and a cool breeze over a massage any day! Brinley had a blast running in and out of the ocean, even though the water is still pretty cold. It was a nice preview to summer, when I think we will be making several trips this year..... there are even talks of renting a beach house for a week!

whew....

What a crazy, busy weekend we had! It started Friday morning with Brinley's first swim lesson. She was a little slow to warm up being in the pool without me, but after 5 minutes she was kicking, practicing her alligator arms and blowing bubbles in the water!

After swim lessons, I was hosting an Easter party at my house for Brinley's BFF's. It was a gorgeous day and the girls had a great time dying eggs, playing in the backyard, and hunting the eggs. Brinley definitely has egg hunting down this year! I don't even have to direct her where to go, she sees the eggs and takes off! After a great afternoon of eating and playing, we met Daddy for dinner and came home and passed out from exhaustion!

Addison, Halle, Maddy and Brinley

Saturday morning, Brinley, Clayton and I went to a baby shower for Baby Ferrell while Jason played golf. Another beautiful day was spent playing outside with Chloe (big sis to be) and eating cake. On our way home from the shower (at nap time), Brinley saw everyone walking pass our house carrying Easter baskets. I had forgotten our neighborhood egg hunt was that afternoon! Brinley ran in the house, grabbed her basket, as Jason luckily walked in the door, and off we headed for more egg hunting!

After a short nap, we headed to Jason's uncle's house for dinner. We sat outside, watched basketball and ate burgers, while Brinley and Hannah ran wild for 3 hours!

Clayton discovering his tongue

Sunday, we headed to my brother's house at lunchtime for Reese's 6th birthday party. I can't believe she is already 6 years old! They had her birthday party at their neighborhood park with a moonwalk and popcorn machine. Brinley stayed in the moonwalk the entire time and was not threatened by all the big kids, in fact she was doing the same things they were doing!

Happy Birthday Reese!

Brinley trying out her new jump moves taught to her by her new big friends!
After the party, we went to PF Changs for dinner...YUM! We then came home and all passed out from our crazy weekend!

So, this morning we woke up and it is 50 degrees...where did the pretty weather go? Brinley can barely breathe due to allergies from being outside all weekend and Clayton was diagnosed with eczema skin allergy at the doctor office this morning! What a great way to start the week!
