Kappa Delta Reunion

I spent the weekend in Fayetteville for my sorority reunion.  We stayed in the sorority house and it felt just like old times walking from room to room visiting, using community bathroom/showers, laying around the TV room watching late night partiers coming in and laughing until we cried! It was so much fun and I hope we can get together yearly!!!

Saturday night, we had a nice dinner at the restaurant Mermaids along with a slide show of pictures. Here is a picture of all the girls who came! Pledge classes 94-98
The 98 Pledge class! We had the most in attendance and it seems like we haven't spent much time apart even though we haven't seen in each other years (some since we graduated 10 years ago!) What a great group of ladies!!!
My roomies- Amanda and Wendi! I love these ladies and all the stupid and crazy memories we share!

Brinley's 6th birthday

Brinley's 6th birthday was Thursday.  She woke up that morning to a streamer surprise on her bedroom door.

We ate an early lunch at her favorite peanut butter and jelly place (AKA- McAllisters) with Grandma, Marian and Hannah and then went to see the new Ice Age movie. After the movie, we all went swimming at our neighborhood pool.  We met up with Daddy, Mamaw, and Pops for dinner at Olive Garden and then back to our house to open presents. Mamaw and Pops got her the new Android kids tablet since she loved playing with my mom's IPAD. She hasn't put it down! For our present to her, I took my old dollhouse as a child, stripped it and remodeled it to bring it up to date. She loves it and is playing with it when we make her take a break from the tablet :-)

Saturday was her Candyland themed birthday party.  I found lots of great decoration ideas on pinterest to get ready for the party!

We rented a water slide for the kids to play on.  They had a blast and it was hard to pull them out of it for food, cake and presents!

The kids also played a water sponge throwing game
This little guy loved the slide so much, he tried to hide when I wanted him to get out to eat pizza!

Brinley requested rainbow cupcakes, so instead of decorating a cake, I spent the time making these (which took just as long!)

The party was a success and we are still trying to recover from it! It is a good thing we have new toys to keep the kids entertained while mommy and daddy crash!

Brinley, you are such a sweet girl and have such a wonderful outlook on life. My mom says she has the Sue Heck outlook (from the TV show The Middle).  You are very outgoing and would rather be on the move than sitting at home! You enjoy anything sport related and love being outside.  You learned so much in kindergarten and have spent your summer drawing, coloring, writing and reading.  You are swimming like a fish and are addicted to Scooby doo cartoons, which you have to watch every night before bed! You are so patient with your brother and really try to ignore him as he pushes your buttons constantly ;-) You are such a joy and love helping out anyway you can.  Mommy and Daddy love you so much!

Mexico Get Away

Jason and I spent last week in the Riveira Maya, Mexico with my brother, sister in law, best friend and her sister.  We stayed at the El Dorado Royale.  It is the only place we have stayed the last three times we have been down there, but when you find perfection, why change? We spent the week relaxing on the beach and pool, getting massages, eating yummy food, and laughing a lot!

This vacation was just what I needed to relax and get ready to take on Brinley's birthday party and the rest of the summer! We picked a perfect week to go to because it rained everyday we were gone at home!

4th of July

On Tuesday, July 3rd, we went to the Dynamo game.  It was hot  and steamy, the game ended in a tie 0-0, but the firework show afterwards, made it all worth it!!!

We had a pretty low key fourth of July this year.  We spent the morning being lazy and watching Scooby Doo (which the kids are OBSESSED with right now!) After lunch, we headed over to Melody's house for swimming and eating. The kids had fun swimming and it was a great way to beat the heat for the afternoon.  I was too busy visiting to take pictures, but here are some pictures from before we went over there!
Brinley and Clayton with the flag cake I made with a recipe from Pinterest....it was yummy!
The kids all decked out in their red, white, and blue!
After swimming, we went back to our house and the Walker's came over for the evening! We grilled hamburgers and hot dogs and the kids played really hard! We enjoyed the breezey evening in the backyard (our backyard is always 15 degrees cooler than the front in the evenings because the backyard is completely shaded by 4pm everyday!)

Eating dinner (Austin spent the entire evening wearing Clayton's batman costume..ha ha!)
Around 9pm, we loaded the kids up in the car drove around the block to watch the city fireworks.  We had the perfect view without having to leave the back of the truck!
